Part-time Work

There are a wide variety of part-time jobs that you can have. For example you can find work in the following areas:
  - Charity jobs
  - Temporary jobs
  - Working from home
  - Working in Retail

Charity jobs
There is a wide range of work available for charities and charitable causes. They all need help. This may or may not include paid work although you generally get your expenses.
The advantages for helping charities is that it is a positive item for your CV.
An example of voluntary work for charitable causes is Explosion Entertainments which is a voluntary organisation which holds a database of entertainers of all levels of skills and talents. The volunteer entertainers help charities and charitable causes with their fundraising events. Everybody benefits!

Temporary jobs
This covers temporary work, often on a 'when-needed' basis as opposed to regular hours. Examples could be seasonal work or standing in for regular staff who are unavailable.

Working from home
Can you use your skills and talents to run a business from home? Are you able to make quality products to sell? Have you the skills to operate a retail business from home?
Ebay is great for selling products and services.
Perhaps you can sell your products or services through a website or by local advertising.

One of the problems with selling stuff is being able to buy it at a cheap enough price in order to make a profit. You have to consider the postage/delivery charge and you still need to be competitive. But it can be done. Be wary of having to commit a lot of money in advance for stock. You must investigate the marketplace. Who are your competitors? What are they selling the product for?

Working in Retail This is an obvious category. Many shops and the larger supermarkets need extra staff at weekends. This can often be seen as a 'proper' job with training and promotion opportunities. This is one area which is being effected by the 'credit crunch' and jobs may be difficult to get at this time.
